Not financial advice. Crypto, DeFi and perpetual-futures strategies can lose money, including your whole deposit. Yields are variable, and past or backtested results do not predict future returns. Read the risk disclosure.
Opal and Deploy Finance both sell access to professional crypto strategies, and both give you a self-custodial wallet built on Privy. Opal starts from a dollar token, USDop, backed by Treasury bills, and adds a shelf of strategies you can subscribe to. Deploy Finance starts from USDC in your wallet and lets an agent trade it on Hyperliquid.
The closest overlap is Opal's Basis Prime, a market-neutral strategy built on funding and basis, against Deploy's Income: Funding Rates. The asymmetry is what you hold. With Opal you subscribe to a strategy that has its own subscription, NAV, and redemption terms. With Deploy you own the positions the agent opens in your own wallet.

What is Opal?
Opal calls itself a digital dollar and yield platform. It is operated by OPALIR (BVI) Ltd under British Virgin Islands law, and its terms allow KYC, AML, sanctions, and source-of-funds checks, including on redemptions. It has two layers.
USDop, the dollar layer
USDop is a 1:1 dollar stablecoin. Opal states that it is backed by short-term US Treasury bills held at State Street through regulated fund infrastructure, that reserves are segregated and not lent out or exposed to trading strategies, and that PwC audits them independently.
Opal's terms of service set the redemption rules. A standard redemption starts at $1,000 and is normally processed on a T+5 business-day basis. Once you start one, the USDop is burned or irrevocably committed. Express redemption, where available, usually completes in hours for a 20 bp fee, and Opal does not guarantee it. Opal does not currently charge a mint fee. Holders can earn Variable Rewards. Under the terms these are discretionary and may be zero, and they are open to US persons only if they are accredited investors.
The strategy shelf
Opal lists four proprietary strategies, each with a published target yield and risk label:
- Meridian: a managed vault aimed at overlooked onchain yield.
- Basis Prime: a market-neutral strategy capturing funding-rate and basis opportunities across liquid digital assets.
- Basis Prime+: a selectively leveraged version of Basis Prime.
- Edge Vault: a volatility strategy.
Opal's homepage describes an "Agentic Engine" that rebalances against macro signals, live performance, and each strategy's risk parameters. Its terms say users choose whether to allocate to a strategy, and that Opal does not automatically allocate, rebalance, or rotate users' assets. They also say Opal does not act as a discretionary manager or investment adviser to users, and that each strategy runs its own subscription, redemption, lockup, withdrawal-queue, and NAV process.
As of October 2026, Opal's public site does not name the venues or custodians Basis Prime uses to run its hedge. If that matters to you, ask Opal before you subscribe.
Deploy Finance: the trade itself, in your wallet
Deploy Finance runs two live agents, both funded and settled in USDC and both trading on Hyperliquid.
- Income: Funding Rates holds roughly 75% of capital as the spot asset and uses 25% to back a 3x perpetual short of matching notional. It collects funding in USDC, rebalances automatically, and closes positions rather than paying when funding turns negative.
- Superstar takes long or short positions on perpetual markets under a defined strategy.
You sign in with email or Google, fund the wallet, choose an agent and allocation, and approve a session key. The agent trades with that key but cannot transfer or withdraw your funds. Positions sit in your own wallet and are visible onchain, and you can revoke the agent and withdraw without a redemption queue.
Opal and Deploy use the same wallet provider, so self-custody of the wallet does not separate them. What does is where the strategy runs. Opal's strategy is a product you subscribe to, with terms set per strategy. Deploy's strategy is a set of trades placed in your own wallet.
When should you choose Deploy Finance or Opal?
Choose Deploy Finance when:
- You want to see and own the hedged positions, not a claim on a strategy's NAV.
- You want to exit by withdrawing from your wallet rather than through a redemption process.
- You want to start with an email or Google sign-in.
- You want to know exactly which venue runs the trade: Hyperliquid.
Choose Opal when:
- You want a Treasury-backed dollar as your base asset, with strategies layered on top.
- You want several strategy types, including volatility, from one provider.
- You are a family office or institution and want the dedicated access Opal advertises for that segment.
- You are comfortable with per-strategy subscription and redemption terms.
Subscription or delegation: Opal lets you subscribe to strategies from a Treasury-backed dollar. Deploy Finance lets an agent trade inside your own wallet. No integration between the products is implied.
