Not financial advice. Crypto, DeFi and perpetual-futures strategies can lose money, including your whole deposit. Yields are variable, and past or backtested results do not predict future returns. Read the risk disclosure.
Liminal and Deploy Finance run the same trade. Both hold a spot asset on Hyperliquid, short the matching perpetual, and collect the funding that leveraged longs pay. Both start from a USDC deposit and automate the hedge, the rebalancing, and the exit.
The difference is where your USDC sits while the trade runs. Liminal offers three answers: an account it operates for you, a sub-account of your own Hyperliquid account, or a pooled token. Deploy Finance offers one: a self-custodial wallet you own, with an agent that holds a trade-only session key.

What is Liminal?
Liminal calls itself Hyperliquid's native yield layer. It captures funding, staking, and lending yield on Hyperliquid and packages it in two product lines. The details below come from Liminal's documentation as of August 2026.
Liminal Customized
Customized is the original product. Each user gets an isolated strategy: Liminal buys the spot asset, shorts the matching perpetual, and collects funding. You pick which assets to run (BTC, ETH, and HYPE among them), set leverage per asset, and can change presets later. Deposits start at $500 in USDC or USDT0, from Arbitrum, Hyperliquid, or chains bridged through deBridge.
Customized runs in one of two custody modes:
- Regular Mode. Liminal manages a linked account on your behalf, with keys encrypted and operated inside secure enclaves. Rebalancing is fully automatic.
- Self-Custody Mode. You authorize Liminal as an agent on a dedicated sub-account of your own Hyperliquid account. The agent can trade but cannot transfer or withdraw.
Liminal Tokenized
Tokenized pools deposits into one strategy per market and issues a token for your share. xHYPE and xBTC each run a pooled delta-neutral position on their asset, and xLEND supplies stablecoins to money markets. limUSD sits one level above and allocates across xTokens and money markets for you.
The tokens are LayerZero OFTs that move between HyperEVM, Ethereum, Arbitrum, and other supported chains, and they can serve as DeFi collateral or be split on Pendle. Instant redemption costs 0.3% for xHYPE, xBTC, xETH, and limUSD. A queued redemption on HyperEVM takes up to 3 days for xHYPE and xBTC.
Self-Custody Mode against a Deploy agent wallet
This is the closest comparison on the page. Both models keep your USDC in an account you own and give the operator a key that trades but cannot withdraw. Running them shows four practical differences.
Getting in. Liminal's documentation states that Hyperliquid requires $100,000 of executed trading volume before an account can create a sub-account, and Self-Custody Mode needs one. Existing Regular Mode balances must be fully withdrawn before you switch. Deploy creates the wallet when you sign in with email or Google. It needs no trading history and no existing Hyperliquid account.
Keeping the key alive. A Liminal agent authorization lasts about six months. Liminal sends a Telegram reminder 30 days before expiry, and an expired agent stops trading until you sign a new one. A Deploy session key stays active until you revoke it.
Rebalancing. In Self-Custody Mode, Liminal can trade but cannot move USDC between your spot and perp balances. After some rebalances it asks you to equalize them by hand. The position stays neutral meanwhile, but the unmatched portion earns nothing until you confirm. Deploy's Income: Funding Rates agent rebalances automatically as prices and funding change.
Exiting. Self-Custody users deposit and withdraw only through Hyperliquid spot and perp balances. The Arbitrum withdrawal route is reserved for Regular Mode. Deploy withdraws USDC from your wallet to an address you choose.
Liminal's Self-Custody Mode gives you more control over the strategy itself: you choose assets and leverage, and Deploy's agent does not offer that. Deploy gives you less to configure and less to maintain once the agent is running.
Deploy Finance: one funding agent, one wallet, nothing pooled
Deploy Finance runs autonomous trading agents that you fund in USDC and run from a self-custodial wallet built on Privy's embedded-wallet infrastructure. Two agents are live.
- Income: Funding Rates holds roughly 75% of capital as the spot asset and uses the remaining 25% to back a 3x perpetual short of matching notional. Funding accrues in USDC. When funding turns negative, the agent rebalances or closes positions rather than paying to hold.
- Superstar takes long or short positions on perpetual markets under a defined strategy. Liminal has no directional product.
You sign in, fund the wallet with USDC, choose an agent and allocation, and approve a scoped session key. From then on the agent opens, hedges, rebalances, and closes positions. You can export your private keys, revoke the agent, and withdraw.
Deploy does not let you pick the asset or leverage inside an agent, and it has no token you can lend against or move across chains. Your USDC stays in a wallet registered to you instead of in a shared vault.
When should you choose Deploy Finance or Liminal?
Choose Deploy Finance when:
- You want your funds in your own wallet without first building $100,000 of Hyperliquid volume.
- You want the agent to handle every rebalance, with no balance transfers to confirm and no agent renewal every six months.
- You want no performance fee on funding earned.
- You want a directional agent available from the same wallet.
Choose Liminal when:
- You want to choose which assets carry the hedge and how much leverage each one uses.
- You want a transferable, yield-bearing token (xHYPE, xBTC, or limUSD) to use as DeFi collateral or move across chains.
- You want a managed USD yield token that blends funding with money-market yield.
- You already trade enough on Hyperliquid to open sub-accounts and prefer to keep the strategy there.
Same trade, different wrappers: Liminal packages Hyperliquid funding as an operated account, a sub-account, or a pooled token. Deploy Finance runs it as an agent inside a wallet you own. No integration between the products is implied.
